Jackets beat Flames in OT, push run to 5

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) After missing training camp because of a contract dispute, Josh Anderson has performed at a consistently high level for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Anderson scored two minutes into overtime to give Columbus its fifth straight win, 1-0 over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.

Sergei Bobrovsky had 22 saves for Columbus in his third shutout this season and 22nd of his career. Mike Smith turned away 40 shots for Calgary.


OT goal caps Tampa rally vs. Blackhawks

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Falling behind Chicago and staging a comeback has become the norm for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Brayden Point scored a power-play goal 3:25 into overtime, and the Lightning rallied again to beat the Blackhawks 3-2 on Wednesday night.


Preds edge Habs in SO for 8th win in 9

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Playing in their own building, Filip Forsberg and the Nashville Predators are awfully dangerous on the power play.

Forsberg scored a pair of goals with the man advantage and Kyle Turris had the only goal in a shootout to lead the Predators to a 3-2 victory over the struggling Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.


Red-hot Boeser lifts Canucks over Pens

PITTSBURGH (AP) Vancouver Cancuks rookie Brock Boeser is enjoying a fast start to his career, while embattled defenseman Derrick Pouliot is just happy to have a change of scenery.

Boeser scored two more goals and Pouliot netted the game-winner against his former team as the Canucks defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 on Wednesday night.


Niederreiter goal streak at 5, Wild win

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Nino Niederreiter and Mikael Granlund helped the Minnesota Wild end a two-game skid.

They each scored two goals to lead the Wild to a 5-4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.


Surging Jets hand Kings sixth loss in 7

LOS ANGELES (AP) Adam Lowry and Patrik Laine scored in the Winnipeg Jets' fifth victory in six games, 2-1 over the slumping Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night.

Steve Mason made 38 saves during his first start since Nov. 11 as the surprising Jets opened a three-game California swing with the first regulation road victory over the Kings in franchise history. Winnipeg has surged into second place in the Central Division with nine victories in 12 games overall.


Bailey lifts Isles in OT, Flyers' skid 6

NEW YORK (AP) Josh Bailey is piling up points and so is Islanders captain John Tavares. That's good news for New York.

Bailey scored 32 seconds into overtime with an extra-effort assist from Tavares, giving the Islanders a 4-3 victory over Philadelphia that extended the Flyers' losing streak to six games Wednesday night.


Bruins top Devils in 11th shootout round

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) By his own admission, Charlie McAvoy does not have a bag of tricks that he can use in the shootout.

And the Boston Bruins may hope it stays that way.


Rangers start fast, rout Hurricanes 6-1

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) The New York Rangers started fast Wednesday night and never slowed down.

Chris Kreider and Jesper Fast scored two goals apiece, including Kreider's first just 52 seconds into the game, and the Rangers rolled to a 6-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.


Caps defeat Sens after shuffling lines

WASHINGTON (AP) All that Alex Ovechkin needed to end his goal drought was a reunion with old linemate Nicklas Backstrom.

Paired with Backstrom for the first time this season, Ovechkin scored his first goal in seven games and 14th overall to help send the Washington Capitals to a 5-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night.
